Vijay Sethupathi has emerged as one of the favorite villains of Indian Cinema. His stellar performance as a villain has made him a special place in the hearts of fans. Recently in an interview, he revealed the reason why he chooses to do negative or villain roles in cinema. During the conversation, he also shared why he wants to take a break from doing negative roles.
This year the actor Vijay Sethupathi made his Hindi debut through the movie Mumbaikar and then later he was also seen in the movie Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan.
Vijay Sethupathi has proved his acting talent in movies across different languages. He has created a special place among the cinephiles through his villain characters. In the recent interview the Vijay, the actor said he did not want to confine himself to a single box. He wanted to experience the freedom of thinking freely. That’s why the renowned director Lokesh Kanagaraj approached him for the film Master, he decided to give it a try and he accepted the role.
Vijay Sethupathi, the most loved villain further clarified his point of view and said, “I thought playing a villain is so much freedom. You kill people, and then you torture people, and you have fun in it, which you can’t do in real life. Inside everybody, there’s a big criminal, we control them, which I want to try.” He added that why should villain have angry or serious face always? Why can’t villain have comedy in their character? According to him antagonists can also have fun in his life. he wanted to have all these things while playing villain character on the screen.
Vijay Sethupathi reveals the reason why he doesn’t want to do negative role
As the interview moved further, the actor also revealed why now he needs a break from a regular antagonist character to play on the stage. The actor said, “They started approaching me for regular kind of villain things. I already don’t have time to listen to stories in which I’m playing a hero; now I have to sit and listen to stories for villain roles, and it becomes an emotional block because I meet everybody”.
He further added that over the time it becomes unbearable for him, and he couldn’t handle it. Thats why he decided to take a break for some time in which he can relax. He said, “too many approaches are coming for pan-Indian movies. Hence, I decided to stop and relax.” if in future there will be something really good comes up, he will think about it but not now.

During the conversation Vijay jokingly said that he is afraid of Katrina Kaif as she is a very big star and he is new to this Hindi film industry. she has a lot more experience than him. When he was asked about his upcoming movie which is backed by Sriram Raghavan. He said it is a story that revolves around Albert and Maria. The story portrays the beauty of one night that changes their life completely. they met and fell for each other. He said, “it’s like searching for who you are inside you. That’s what the film is.”

It is thriller which will be released in Tamil and Hindi. Vijay Sethupathi will be sharing screen with Katrina Kaif in this movie. It is scheduled to hit the theaters on January 12, 2024.
