Recently Sharmila Tagore and his son Saif Ali Khan graced the couch of Koffee With Karan 8. It was quite an interesting episode for all the Saif Ali Khan’s fan as many past things recalled and many revelations were done by the veteran actor Sharmila Tagore. She recalled how she came to know about Saif’s wedding and her reaction. As the show moved further she also tells about how difficult it was for the entire family to deal with his divorce with Amrita.
Koffee With Karan 8: Sharmila Tagore candid revelations
During the latest episode of Koffee with Karan, the conversation between the trio moved more towards the family dynamics of Pataudi family. Karan asked a lot of questions about Saif’s previous wife Amrita, his marriage and divorce.
Karan Johar during conversation with Saif Ali Khan said, “There is one place that he reached and never left. It was Amrita Singh’s house. He reached there was the first time and you never left.” Karan further recalled when Soha told him that she was just 13 when one of her friends told her, your brother just got married.
KWK 8: Sharmila Tagore says, feeling “doubly deprived” when they split
When Saif was telling about how he told his mother about his marriage, in between Sharmila intervened and said, “Actually I was visiting Mumbai for something and Saif came to me, to meet me. And he said I have something to tell you and he told me. And then of course, I don’t know what I was doing but I was quiet and he says Amma you’re quiet and your colour is changing and you are looking different. And I told him we will talk about it later.”
She further talked about how she called instantly to Tiger about the Saif’s marriage and the silence after she announced the news was a bit of a moment but as time passed everything went normal. She recalled asking Saif, “I would like to meet her. The next day I called Amrita and we had tea and we chatted, but still quite shocked.”

During the interesting conversation on the controversial couch, Sharmila tagore further revealed how Saif and Amrita were similar in many ways. She said, “both of them were very funny. Whenever they would talk, it would be a lot of laughter, mimicking other people, tearing somebody to bits in a funny way. He is good at mimicry and she is a great storyteller. They looked really happy together.”
The actor recalled that Sharmila Tagore was the first person whom he informed about his separation decision with Amrita. He further added that his mother was very supportive and said, ” I am with you if that is what you want and that helped a lot.”
KWK 8: Sharmila Tagore said, “When you are together for such a long time, then no break up is easy.
While recalling the bad seperation period of Saif, She said, “When you are together for such a long time and you have such lovely children, then no break up is easy. Then it is not a harmonious…” She further added that it was a tough period for all of us, as Ibrahim was just three and we loved him a lot. Especially Tiger was very fond of him. She further added that, ” we felt doubly deprived to lose Amrita and lose the two kids. So it’s just not him but we also had to adjust to all that.”
Saif and Amrita got married in 1991 and have two amazing kids Sara and Ibrahim. They both decide in 2004 to part their ways. In 2012 Saif Ali Khan married actress Kareena Kapoor.
